Anurag Kashyap gets emotional on completing 20 years in Bollywood Anurag Kashyap has completed twenty years in the industry today and the acclaimed filmmaker got emotional talking about the same. Anurag took to his Twitter handle to thank Ram Gopal Verma, the man who gave him his first break. Anurag wrote, “20 years back my first film released. And changed my life forever. Being part of it was like going to the best film school in the world. All that I know I learned on one film and from one man. Thank you @RGVzoomin”

Twenty years back, Anurag Kashyap made his debut in films as a co-writer with Ram Gopal Verma's Satya in 1998 and then made his directorial debut with Panch, which never got released in India because of censorship issues. Anurag's next film Black Friday, based on Hussain Zaidi's book about 1993 Bombay bombings, was also a controversial film. His next film No Smoking bombed at the ticket window. Even though Anurag's films were not doing well at the box-office at that point in time, he was still loved amongst critics. Finally, it was Dev D that got him box-office success.

Anurag KahsyapIn this journey of twenty years, Anurag won four Filmfare Awards. In 2013, he was awarded the Ordre Des Arts et Des Lettres (Knight of the order of Arts and Lettres) by the French government at Cannes Film Festival. Anurag has not only made his place amongst the best filmmakers of India but is a known name in the international cinema circuit as well.
